Kashmir ours and occupied by Pakistan

The Hindukush Valley in Pakistan occupied Kashmir

Shalimar Gardens in India and a Kashmiri woman

Some pictures of Kashmir which fall in the territory of India and Pakistan.I went there on a holiday with my parents when I was 7 or 8 years old. We got a broken crucifix from a church bombed by the Pakistanis, I 've hung it in my living room.
On holiday we snow-carted on glaciers, camped in tents besides rivers, went boating in lakes and rivers., had fun around bonfires. Went to all the popular tourist spots.Just had a lot of fun.
Update
In the afternoon 2 young men entered our campus , it was raining hard and they wanted to see the Pastor. They were law students and had written the Indian Administrative Services exams but had failed . They were very depressed and despondent. Walking down the road and saw the church. They thought this is a place of peace so they wanted to talk to the priest. They met with Pastor Shailendra. You can pray for them their names are Tewari and Mishra.
After dinner Sheeba and I watched the Independence Day fireworks organized by the Businessmen Association. It lit up our garden, so close it was, with the circus lights as a backdrop it looked pretty. But Sheeba doesn 't like fireworks and she wanted to jump up and grab the raining sparkles.

Hi Amrita,

Your country is beautiful; enjoy your celebration.

I have not been reading much recently so I'm catching up. Your pretend phone call to the cemetery must have relieved a lot of tension. It is so good of you to care for your aunt that way. And your thoughts on Col.2 are powerful. I'm glad to see that you have kept on blogging.

Even beyond its beauty, what a dynamic country! I can hardly believe how much India had changed in just the last 10 years.

Dear Amrita,
what majestic beauty these mountains of Kashmir form.
When I was a child, we had a jig-saw puzzle of Asia, therefor I know where little Kashmir is situated.
Let's hope that the mighty nations don't want to fight yet another war over land.
I am getting so worn out of all these warfares.
Especially since its often women and children who are suffering.
If I am getting rich in my old days, I would very much like to travel and see India. Not only because of its billion onhabitants, but the old culture, are and wisdom.
I will of course pray for the unhappy students.
Good they came in to a church though.

Kashmir? Lucky you!

I never really had a chance to visit. Since I grew up in the western ghat region, I can only imagine how much more beautiful Kashmir is...!!

Hi Amrita,

I was thinking of you (I was busy this week) Have you had a good celebration of 60Th anniversary of India? Or is that not something you do...

I like the Shalimar Gardens in India and a Kashmiri woman, very nice to see both of them....

With love and greetings :) JoAnn

Those pictures are gorgeous!! Just breathtaking.

I used to have a dog that would bark at fireworks. He thought he was protecting us. He would get too close, barking madly, at the fountain sparklers. His whiskers would get singed. It would get thinned and curly. Another dog we had would just want to hide under the table. It just hurt his ears. Awww.
