Powerless in the City

This evening I planned on attending a
Praise and Worship music concert.
but something told me not to go.
And I am glad I didn 't because
at about 6pm our area power transformer
which regulates our electricity, blew out with a
booming sound and we were without power all evening.
They hooked us to a temporary transformer at
about 10pm.
I am glad I stayed home because Ma would
have felt very anxious and insecure in the dark
although we have a battery run UPS
but it doesn 't run everything in the house.
Sometimes one has to listen
their instincts.
Technology wins every time
Specially failed or faulty technology.
This is a gizmo I am looking for.
I have bits and pieces of it.
Just have to assemble it.

Such a wry and witty post, my dear!

Our transformer must be in sync with yours. It blew out this morning, too, for no good reason. What a noise, then what silence as all the washers stopped humming, air conditioners fell quiet, and screens went blank.

I have a gadget that is alot like the one in your cartoon! It is a BlackBerry. I do not know how I became so enamored by the Internet. I feel it is quite unlikely an olde grey mare such as myself would love such a thing. But, it happened! Now to control it...

Hope your mother continues to feel better...

God really takes care of you my friend. He led you to stay at home with your mom instead of going to a concert since there would be an impending brownout. "All things work together for the good of those who love Him who have been called according to His purpose"(Romans 8:28). I hope you get that gizmo you want. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

Hi! You're right, we've to listen to our instinct. But, 99/100 times we just ignore it thinking that it is our fear that is getting better better of us and fight it. We seldom realise that it is His signal to save us from the disaster lurking round the corner. We'd be grateful if we give up our ego & listen to it.

Good listening Amrita. Well done. I don't know how you do it . I can't imagine we westerners having our power shut down the way you do. We would all be whining in a major way to our government I am sure.

Like Nancy said...we sure would be whining......I do know what it is to live like that though and it is not easy....Great listening

i guess we have instinct for a reason. if we use it wisely, we'll benefit from it. God will surely guide us always. blessings to you, amrita.

It was good for both you and your mother that you stayed at home.
And it was good that you got that feeling!
I hope it is OK now, and hope you will have a good Sunday!

Your cartoons had me laughing and nodding. I am so sorry you have to deal with these issues, but you have a sense of humor about it.

I remember when I was first married, it always seemed that the transformer outside our old home would blow every time I was alone and my husband was far away. I would get so frightened by the storm and yet, I never was in any danger. Oh well, such is life.

God bless you!

When we lived in Nicaragua we would be without power most days for at least a few hours. It became my quiet reading time, except that my boys were bored without all their technology! Now in Mexico it is a rare thing to lose power, but I still enjoy it!
