Sunday Blessings - For Mothers

Graduating with a Master 's degree
Sari billowing in the wind

On the extreme left, busy knitting while attending a function in which her Principal distributes gifts to
under-privileged girls

Playing basketball with her students as a young HS teacher.
(on the extreme right)
In those days women wore saris at sports -
can 't imagine how they managed it.

With Papa

In front of the pomegranate tree.
A bug got this tree and we had to cut it down.

With Mama as a teen
This was taken a few years ago.
Showing off our giant dahlias.

Children are a great comfort in your old age - and they help you reach it faster, too. ~Lionel Kauffman
Hope my Mom is not saying this about me.LOL
Sonia, hubby and son Abner arrived yesterday.
Its great to have them visit. Sonia 's hubby will
leave on Tues , they will stay on.
On Wednesday May 13th we will admit Mom in hospital
for her laproscopy.
Since morning she 's been having dizzy spells. I have given her medication. She is better but has to be helped while walking.
She got phone calls from my sisters.
Sonia made a nice mutton pilaf and in the evening
she is frying fish,
my Mom 's favorites.
______________
Sonia 's husband Avinash helped clean the church
this morning before service.
I give him due credit for it as he is physically
challenged. Surgery for a brain tumor caused a stroke
which paralyzed his left side.
He has recovered quite a bit but his left
hand and leg are impaired.
He goes for physio therapy daily.
He works in the Lucknow University
as a researcher .
Even with limited mobility he attends his
church faithfully.
Their church is located very far away and it takes ages to get there taking public transport (he can 't drive)
But they rarely miss.
_____
A theology student was the guest speaker this morning.
Martin did not go home for his summer vacation.
He stayed back to minister in the
church nurturing team.
They visit groups in the rural areas.
Happy Mother 's Day .

What pretty pictures! I love the saris! The picture of your mother gettting her Master's degree - such a fine, intelligent look on her beautiful face- achieving a Master's is exceptional!

Glad your adopted sis is there with you at this time. Fried fish, hooray! I hope your mom can eat lots and build her strength for the surgery. Lap surgery is so much better than the "open field" surgery, I felt better at once and went and picked pinon nuts as soon as they let me up from the procedure!

Now what did Sheeba get you for Mother's Day? My cats and dogs URGED me to BUY MORE BEADS ONLINE, and how could I refuse their present??? LOL...

Stopping in as God put you heavily on my heart. I want you to know that I love you and that I think you are a wonderful, kind and very helpful daughter. I am proud of how you take care of your mom and all those around you. You are quite a woman Amrita, I know you are so humble and are probably embarrassed by my even saying so...but you are an awesome woman of God dear friend.

Bless you. Praying for your mum and her surgery. God is holding all of you closely, and I know He will continue.

Wow Amrita, these pictures are such treasures! I had no idea how pomegranates grew, or what the tree looked like, and those dahlias are unbelievable! So did your Mother get here master's degree in Education, or was it something else? Really a beautiful graduation picture, and they are all precious! Praying for her laparotomy. If they use scopes, it is very soon until she trecovers from it. I think of you a lot, and I think a lot of you. lol.
Blessings,
Sheila

Awesome photos, Amrita - thanks for sharing! Too bad we didn't wear saris when I was in grade school; it would have given me a good excuse for stinking at sports:)

What a wonderful post, Amrita! Such a blessed family heritage you have! These pictures are beautiful, and I have enjoyed learning more about your parents, especially your mom. She is an exceptional woman and definitely passed that on to you. I will be watching for updates about her surgery later on.

Dear Amrita,
I wish your mother a happy belated Mother's day.
I am so impressed of the tribute blog you have made her.
She sure is an extraordinary woman.
She also is lucky having the special, caring daughter by the name of Amrita.

We celebrate mother's day second Sunday of February in Norway, so we are a bit out of touch with the rest of the world.

Also we have been away for a long week-end and I am just about doing the catching up today.

Anyway, God bless your mother and yourself in the wonderful, prosperous month of May.
From Felisol

We have Dahlia's in our garden. They have grown out of control so I will dig the bulbs and give them to friends.
Hope your week ahead is lovely, prayers,

Happy Mother's Day to your mom, Amrita. Though you may not be a full pledge mother, you are a wonderful spiritual mother to all your spiritual children and to all who visit your Yesu Garden. Your priceless photos are a treasure to behold and appreciate. They are memories of the past that evoke so much fond memories. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

I see now in this entry, the woman in the big picture is your mother. She looks like a kind smart woman. Doing sports in saris! Yes, that would take some doing. Gerry

I love the way you gently write your stories, Amrita. Loved the pictures, the tribute, the story about sonia and her kind husband. It is good you will have help when your mom goes in for the laparascopy. Praying continually for strength for you, and for her.

I too enjoy your blog postings, they speak to us readers of a very gentle and kind soul who writes this blog. Your photos show that your parents were very instrumental in bringing you up to be a very giving person. They both look very kind (I know, shouldn't make judgements on visuals, but we do).

You honor your mother in so many ways - God bless you.
