Sunday Blessings; This is the Day

Yesterday (August 1st) was my birthday.
The Lord gave me a peaceful and quiet day
with my mother.
I got several phone calls from my sisters
and family.
In the evening my Pastor, his wife and daughter came
to pray and had dessert with us.
I want to thank all
my blog friends for their greetings.
My new blog friend eha
gave me this sweet gift.
Thank you dear sister.EHA 's BLOG full
of gentle , thought provoking posts
like whispers touching the soul.
Please visit my new Indonesian friend

On Friday I went to a Home Bible Study

They live in a place called Kaali Pal-tan
which literally means The Black Platoon.
During the British Raaj this was a part
of the army barracks.
The Brits called Indians "black"
and therefore the nomenclature.
In the house above you can see swamp coolers in the windows.

The descendants of the soldiers live in this settlement
on the banks of the River Ganga.
The river is just down the road.
A cow shed on the way.
As a woman I feel very self conscious taking photos
in public
but I manage some here and there

We had a time of singing
and Pastor lead a Bible study on
Matthew 17

(L-R) Gudiya (the house owner 's wife, Pastor 's wife and Pastor

(L-R) Sunil and Rajendra (house owner)

((L-R) Chandi -Rajendra 's daughter,
Milka -Pastor 's daughter and
Mataji -Rajendra 's mother
The little girls sat through the
meeting very quietly.

Mataji (term of respect for mother)
is in her 80s.
I took a short video of the meeting.

I can truly say with the Psalmist David
*My cup overflows with blessings" Psalm 23;5 (NLT)
Let me quote a passage from Max Lucado 's book Travelling Light.
"Is an overflowing cup full?.
Absolutely. The wine reaches the rim and tumbles over
the edge. The goblet is not large enough to contain the quantity.
According to David our hearts are not large enough to contain the blessings that God wants to give.He pours and pours until they
literally flow over the edge and down on the table.
You will like the paragraph penned a century ago
by F B Meyer
Whatever the blessing is in our cup,
it is sure to run over.
With Him the calf is always the fatted calf,
the robe is always the best robe,
the joy is unspeakable,
the peace passeth understanding...
There is no grudging in God 's benevolence
He does not measure out goodness as an
apothecary counts his drops and
measures his drams slowly
and exactly drop by drop.
God 's way is always characterized by
multitudinous and overflowing bounty."

DEar Amrita,
Happy belated birthday.
I have had visit from a firdt coousin for some days and have been busy playing "housewife". Gunnar and Serina were also fully occupied in honoring our cousin named after my dad, Arne ((means eagle).
Yesterday, August first we clelebrated our common grandfather's birthday. He would have been 128 years old, had he been amonst us.
among all his children and grandchildren he was # one, a person we all admired and loved.
Now he's joined with his children and wife in Heaven.

What I mean to say; Agust First still is a day we cherish and remember.
It is a good day for strong and lovely person to be born!

Hi Amrita:)

Greetings:)

Please accept my belated birthday wishes. May the Almighty God bless you abundantly and fill you with peace, joy and happiness.

I like the photos, particularly the street photos. They give an indication of how people live in that place.

It is true God's blessings always overflows our cups but the fact is that we are blind to these gifts and we don't appreciate it. We don't count our blessings and we only complain about trivial matters which is of no consequence. Remember the saying - I complained I had no shoes until I saw a man without feet.

Many thanks for this excellent post and the wonderful quote.

Have a nice day Amrita:)

Halloo Amrita! I am glad your birthday was a peaceful one!

We have swamp coolers out here, too. But they usually sit on top of the house. But some have them at window-level, which makes more sense to me -- easier to maintain that way.

I am shy to take photos too. You know that I like to watch trains. I take pictures of the locomotives but I'm too shy to actually look at the train crew. Sometimes after they are gone, I look at the picture and see that they were waving nicely!!!

good morning.
I am feeling the effects of much prayer on behalf of myself and my mother. I suspect that your prayers are part of that and I so appreciate it, and beg you to pray all the more, for the church here to be less lethargic in the days to come. For believers here to be busy about harvesting the souls that God KNOWS are out there crying for deliverance.
little else matters that bringing people to Jesus to be set free from sin and joined to His father for eternity,

Happy birthday delayed!
Long time since I visited your blog! It is very encouraging to visit here. Thank you!
We have moved again (about a year since last time.) We found that we were not old enough to live in a small appartement - without space to receive our children and grandchildren for sleeping over the night. Now we have even come a little closer to them, and we have got an old nice little house with a garden! We like it very much here. Must be an answer to many prairs! We are very thankful!

Hello bro David C Brown,

Pray about it, maybe the Lord is calling you to India. You 've been here before that 's tugging your heart.
