Sunday Blessings- With a Heart full of Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada
and I want to wish my Canadian friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Found this cute avtar poster on the web.
Look at the Good Little Church Girl and The Drama Queen.
The One Who Always Gets Hurt is so funny-
you can tell why.

This is little Josh at the kids fest
playing his toy guitar.
His Dad Justin spoke in church this morning
from Luke 20;20-26
20Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor. 21So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. 22Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
23He saw through their duplicity and said to them, 24"Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?"
25"Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."
26They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.
Justin 's one point was-
Why did Jesus ask his clever interviewers
to give to Caesar what belonged to him?
Obviously the coin ,because it had Caesar 's image on it so it belonged to him
Subsequently, what are we to render to God which
has God 's image on it?
The answer is found in
Genesis 1;27
'And God created man in His own image,
in the image of God He created them
male and female He created them".
We have God stamp or image upon us.
We belong to God.
So let us offer ourselves to Him.

Think of the Lord of glory having to ask for one denarius - for our sakes He become poor!

Jesus didn't have any money on him. Not a penny. Not a mite, even. He owned nothing, and certainly nothing owned him. Even his robe was a gift.

I love to hear his words.

As to your avatar poster, you will find me in the lower right corner.

Jesus was accused for not paying taxes. He could not let that be an issue of criticism against the righteous. He therefor sent the disciples to go fishing and payed tax with he coin inside.
Of course Christians must pay their due to society. As well as to God

Hi Amrita,
Your posts are never only about one thing - they always have a few other things that make it inspiring. I sometimes wonder, do you actually find the verses and quote them or is it that you know the Bible by heart.

Incidentally, I am back in Bhopal. So if you could drop a fruit to heal mt soul as promised, do let me know. And many thanks for it pal :)))

Hi friends thank you for your invaluable comments.

Isn 't it amazing tyhat the God who owns the whole universe had to borrow a penny. He emptied Himself to the lowest level and took on the form of a servant.

He choose to be born poor.
In India it would be equavalnt to choose to be born into the house of an untouchable low caste family...unthinkable for us.

You are right Felisol, we ought to pay our axes and give our govt. its due.

Hi Julia,

I have been studying the Bible since childhood and have memorized certain verses. Read it several times too. No I don 't have large portions of the Bible memorized. I know a preacher, he is a Brahmin convert who has memorized huge portions of the Bible like he did the Hindu scriptures when he was a Hindu. When he preaches he hardly has to open a Bible. Its amazing to hear him.
I thought you 'll get back to Bhopal after Diwali.
Have a good time. I will find out about a church.
