Lean Cuisine

I am so happy my knee pain and swelling has subsided.
It is God 's mercy.
Otherwise with the onset of the cold weather
I would have had a lot to deal with.
My younger sister and her two boys are coming for Christmas and winter vacations after several years
and I don 't want to be hindered
or mobility impaired in any way.
The temperature is ranging between the 60s - low 80s ,
that is very pleasant for us and we are using light
winter clothing.
I have entitled this post Lean Cuisine
because that 's what the plain man is being
forced to opt for due to rising prices.

Eggs have become a delicacy.
One egg costs Rs 4 and in Kanpur ( another
city its Rs 6)
Prices are likely to go up.
My Indian FB friend says its madness.

The Poultry Association says the prices of maize, polished rice oil, soybean oil-cake and vitamins
has double or even tripled that 's
why the eggs cost more.
Sugar is Rs 40 per kilo.
It seems this Christmas we 'll have to make
egg less/sugarless cake.
I make an egg less chocolate cake
which is very nice.
I use vinegar in it, but
of course sugar is needed.
My newspaper jokingly suggests
that its a good time to go on a diet.

We are struggling with our church wall building materials.
Already our bricks , cement ,
sand and gravel cost Rupees 60.000 ($1,300)
We have used up most of our church funds
that we saved up in the past several months.
The prices of building materials
is zooming upwards daily.
We are in need of another
Rs 30,000 ($650) for labour and other expenses.
This is our major concern.
We have stepped forth in faith
believing God will provide.
Please uphold our financial needs in your prayers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
however small.
Little becomes much when God is in it.
We are standing or walking, trusting
hoping in the promises of God.
The Lord is faithful in His promises.
Blessed are all who wait for Him
to help them.
Isaiah 30;18

I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling better! I know exactly what its like to have knee pain and swelling. I don't know how I did it but two years ago I was pretty bad off. But just like you, God healed me!

I'm sorry to hear about the crazy rising prices for basic food. But don't worry, God will help you with that dilemma too. He never leaves his children in need. :)

I will pray about your church's need. May God be glorified in what will happen next!

would you consider having a chicken cook built and getting 4 or six hens? ( no rooster! ) for fresh eggs -
we had chickens and ducks for years in the old ( married) days

Glad the wall building is progressing... pray and let God be your Jehovah- Jireh.

Dear Amrita,
I'm glad you are feeling better. I think a lot of Indian products are sold in Norway. I drink Tulsi Tea after your advice and also a Ginger/lemon fusion. They are produced by a brand called Yogi tea.
I use both for the immune defense system and their antibacterial effects.
I think maybe my local health remedy supplier can provide the oils, I've just need to know what to ask for.
Herb as an alternative to ordinary medicine are great in Norway. That's also why I have my own herb garden.

I understand that restoring the church's brick wall is important to you. It's somewhat hard for us to get, since we don't need similar walls around our churches.
Kind of culture collision.
I am glad you are so good explaining and informing about the conditions in India. So many things are hard to understand for a foreigner.

I'm so glad that your knees are okay now and that you don't have to worry that it will hurt during the colder climate ahead. Yes, prices everywhere are rising. That is the result of the twin effects of world recession- inflation and tight money situation. I will pray that the Lord will provide for the construction and repair cost of your church. May the Lord touch the hearts of those who have extra money to spare so that they can help your church through you. This is our prayer Father in the name of Jesus through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, one God , forever. Amen. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

So glad to hear your knee is better. My arthritic knee became awful in the last few weeks and as it came just miraculously the pain disappeared this morning. No explanation but an answer to prayer. Will continue to pray for both of our knees.

Thank you friends for your visits and kind words.

Yes David Schmidt I am considering keeping a few chicken. But we have so many snakes, leeches, feral cats, dogs, civet cats and mongooses around (mini jungle)will have to take extra care to protect them. Human thieves too. I do dream of raising a few chicken. But it will cause my Mama a lot of stress as she does not approve of it and that is an additional point. What to do.

Dear Felisol, Tulsi tea is very beneficial for all kinds of ailments. The other day I saw a tin of organically grown Tulsi/Ginger tea in a shop.It was too expensive. I make my Tulsi tea with fresh leaves...and ginger root.

Hello Terry, thank you for all the sweet comments on my posts. I told Sheeba what you think of her and she was mighty glad and wagged her tail extra hard. Now its close to her dinnertime, so I better give her some chow and then get ready for a Friday Fellowhip house meeting.

Today the temperature droped further. The daytime temps in the 70s and 60 ....that 's cool for us.I pulled on a light sweater.

Thank you for your prayer Mel. Your page opened normally this time.

Oh dear friend Amrita,
I am glad to know your knee swelling is improving and getting better.

I loved the new picture on your header.

Didn't know it got cold in your place. I remember when Ernie and I spent a year in Chiang Mai Thailand. THe November to March months were called winter months. CHiang Mai is up in the north, and quite mountainous -- really cold and we did not expect it.

Here in our country, it is cold only up in the mountains. Down below in the plains and valleys, the coldest it can get is in the 20s.

YOur egg pictures are funny. ANd the cost of living...it is affecting us too.

I will pray for your church construction needs.

Love
Lidj

Hi Amrita:)

I am glad to know that your health is better.

The prices of everything has gone up in Kochi also. We depend for most of our food requirement on the neighboring states and now there is heavy rain in Tamilnadu and many food crops and vegetables have been destroyed. So prices in Kochi are skyrocketing. And as you said we have to avoid superfluous things to cut down costs.

God will always find a way to provided funds for the church. There is no doubt about it.

Take care of your health Amrita:)
