Out in the Cold

On January 2nd we took the children
to the Haathi (Elephant ) Park It was a very cold day with high wind chill factor.

The reluctant sun beckoned us outdoors.
So we thought its better
to shiver outdoors and enjoy
rather than indoors.
(In our state alone more than 250
people have died due to the cold)

Rayguel and Abner sliding down the Elephant trunk.
Mishael preferred to climb onto
the elephant 's back.

Abner 's balancing act.
Blowing soap bubbles.
It would have been no miracle if they had frozen.

Hello everyone
Nam, Am and Sonia with Rayguel.

Jan 4th found Sheeba shivering with cold
So I made her wear Abner 's T-shirt (discarded one)But poor Sheeba prefers
her birthday suit and felt
quite uncomfortable
in human garb.
I wrapped her up in a scarf and
shawls - she felt better.

This is my knitted coat.
The tag says Susan Bristol Ltd
made in Hong Kong.
I bought it from a Salvation Army (second hand) like place.
Its pretty warm.
Would people in the west
wear this as a house-coat?
Its so huge- size XL too big for me - I look 50 pounds heavier in it.But its very warm.
Temps in the 40s (10 C and below) tonight.
Its foggy outside.
The daytime was sunny and pleasant, so
we took the boys to
the Museum and a British Park.
Everyone has gone to bed (10.30pm)
Now its my turn, to clean up the kitchen and go to bed.

Halloo Amrita!

I call your new coat a "sweater coat" and I would wear it over my dresses to go outside...I used to have one, long ago...I would like to get another one because of this cold weather!

I love the pink/red/white sweater you have on in the picture at the park!!! You are ready for Valentine's Day!!!

Poor Sheeba...she needs to get fat like my dogs and myself (and one of the cats), then she would be able to stand that cold better...come on Sheeba, join me in overeating, just in case global warming isn't coming!!

Sorry to hear about the deaths from the cold...hope Mother Hazel is staying well-wrapped during this spell...

It looks like you had fun in spite of the weather! :)

I like your sweater coat. Now that it is pretty cool out (cold at times) & we don't heat the house much, i wear whatever i can manage in the house.

Hope Sheeba is able to say warm!

That many died (250 as per your count) because of the cold spell in India, then it must really be that cold. It is erratic weather condition probably brought about by global warming. That was a wonderful photo of you and your group. Poor dog, she was shivering too because of the extreme cold. Thanks for your post. God bless you all always.

Thank you for your visit , Penni, Kathryn and mel,

Today again its very cold and foggy. Glad we took the kids out yesterday.

My sweater coat is second hand the red and white too. We can get them very cheap from a charity like place. I can 't afford brand new woolens- they are very expensive. These work work well and then you can give them away too.

Hi Penni, Mom is pretty wrapped up.When she can 't bear it- she lays in bed under quilts with a hot water bottle . We have an electric heater and also use a charcoal fire.

Sheeba is pretty well rounded-she is just too spoilt. And I love spoiling her

DEar Amrita,
I like your brown knitted coat and would use it outdoors.
I have a long brown hand knitted dress, made from homespun wool. Bought it in 1974, it is my Christmas dress. Warm and cosy and actually growing with me.

It's good to see children play and in warm clothes. Did you think + 10 C is cold? That's summer temperatures, Amrita! We have had minus 12- 15 C since New Year. That is cold on the coast. In the inland they have minus 30-40 degrees.

Good that you mother has a hot water bottle. I use that too. all around the year. Makes my aching muscles relax.
Poor Sheeba, has she become thinner??
Good she had a scarf to wrap around her.
I also buy second hand clothes from the huge Salvation Army store now and then. I see nothing wrong in that. I'm helping the world become a cleaner place and providing needy work and money.

Take good care of your mom and yourself.
From Felisol

I guess I can use a coat like that here. It doesn't look cold in the pictures but I suppose it is.

Hi Amrita:)

It is so sad to read that people died of cold. This happens in many cold places in India. Similarly, when I was in MP many people die in summer on account of sun stroke. Here in India the government does nothing for the poor people. Poor people are treated worse than cattle. What we need are some good, corruption free leaders in government. We can only pray for God's intervention.

Your photos made the think of the cold days my family and I had to endure in winter in MP. We still have many woolen clothing which we cannot use in Kochi.

I can see that all of you enjoyed yourselves in the park.

Have a nice day Amrita:)
Joseph

Your big coat looks comfortable. A friend of mine used to have a really big oversized robe and I have looked for something like it to stay warmer. Living in Los Angeles now though I usually don't need such warm clothing.

It has been very cold here in South Carolina too!! I am so glad we have fires in our house and warm blankets!! It has been in the 20's (F) at night here and our homes are really not built for this!

Seeing the kids outside made me think of my son when he was young. As long as he was playing the cold seemed not to even be a factor. He would often strip off his coat and be running around in his t-shirt. I guess his blood was good and thin. HA!

Aw..looks like you all had a joyful day!!

It's interesting to know, some part of India get cold? Or perhaps I don't know my geography very well and that it's not always warm..
hehe..

You are so beautiful in these pictures!
Love that long brown sweater-looks great on you!

May the Lord bless you!
