Sunday Blessings: The Navigator

I, like most people want to be in control of my life and destiny. I want to feel safe, protected and well supplied at all times. And when the needle of control dips towards zero, I feel bushwhacked, lost, apprehensive and vulnerable. But Light begins to dawn when I turn my thoughts towards the one who has the steering wheel in His hands.
My Heavenly Father.
He is the Navigator of my Formula One.
I am not.

I was blest by the following devotional by Joni. The King of Tyre, Lucifer, Son of the Morning was full of beauty , wisdom , grace an d power. In his lofty position pride and vanity entered his heart and sought to exalt himself above the Lord God.That 's when he fell from the ramparts of the heavens.

The Supreme Negative

Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'In the pride of your heart you say, "I am a god; I sit on the throne of a god in the heart of the seas." But you are a man and not a god, though you think you are as wise as a god.'"-- Ezekiel 28:2

One of the leaders of our ministry led his first staff meeting with the supreme negative: "I'm not God. And neither are you." He went on to explain that though he was their leader, he was as fallible and foolish as they were.God's judgment came on the king of Tyre for ignoring the supreme negative. The king thought he was divine. Driven and deluded by pride, he assumed that momentary control over one's circumstances was equated with sovereignty. He assumed power was equated with wisdom. He assumed that self was synonymous with divinity.Tyre's assumptions are often ours. Oh, we rarely articulate divinity or sovereignty. We're too smart for that. But we often survey our domains, however small, and stake our god-like claim with silent declarations of the will. God may control the universe, we think, but I'll control the realm of my daydreams... God may be holy, but I'll decide when and how to confess my sin... God may have pleasure sat his right hand forevermore, but I'll decide what gives me kicks. The principle of the supreme negative is inviolate. We are not God. To entertain any other thought is to stand as co-conspirator with Satan. Satan was, after all,the first King of Tyre. When we are tempted, it is nothing more than Satan's kingdom testing our belief in the truth of our identity and that of God. Fortunately for us, God will always be God.* * * * *You are God. I am not. Amen, now and forever!

A question th e preacher raised in this video made me stop and think. He said; Why do we go to church? Do we go to a worship experience or to a worship service?
We go to a worship experience to feel good.
We go to a worship service to serve God with our sacrifice of praise.

The pastor at the church we visited preached a similar message yesterday. Good reminder, thank you Amrita. :)

Hi Kathryn, I wa s really held by that worship experience

worship service point.
Sometimes I come away from church saying to myself;I did not get anything out of it today.

But did I go to church to get something or give something?

It's very good question, Amrita - are we going to church to worship God or worship man and music? We should check our hearts every day - especially in Sunday (or Saturday).

He is my Navigator. I haven't heard that in a long time. And I needed to. Thanks!

Hi Zimb. In India it is importan t to go to church as a visible testimony too. People of other religions go to their worship places, an d pilgrimages, sometimes spending thousands of rupees and taking risks, so we Christians should show them that we also are enthusiastic about our God.

Hello there Amrita. There is a country song that has the line, "Jesus, take the wheel."

I used to see many bumper stickers that read, "God is my co-pilot" but I guess they went out of favor, because I haven't seen one in years now.

This is a most beautiful and inspiring post. Yes, God must always be in control of our lives and our destiny. We must only bow down to His supreme will in our lives. If we live our lives based on our own will, defeat and disillusionment follow. Thanks for the inspiring post. God bless you always.

Hi Holly, that would be a good song. I have heart of those bumper stickers an d some jokes about them too.
But honestly with God as my navigator I can safely traverse the highways of life. Its a matter of trust and I learnt it the hard way.

Thank you for the package which arrived safely today.Sheeba got so excited she punctured my finger trying to grab a piece of pet food. I feel so rich.
