Rain Washed

Since the past few day we are having rains, that has brought down the temperatures and its not humid anymore.
We are enjoying the pleasant pre-autumny weather.

In the evening I went out to purchase some groceries, 10 mins walk from my house. While I was in the shop it started raining heavily. I waited sometime an d then getting impatient walked home thoroughly getting wet and sloshing in puddles. My mother was so worried, she thought I 'd die of pneumonia. I took a quick shower and changed into dry clothes, that 's all.

I like walking in the rain, its the puddles I don 'r t like.

This afternoon I watched a bit of the movie Shakespeare 's "The Merchant of Venice"

Made me go back to our High School days when we enacted that play.

Here is Portia' s court speech which I love so much.

PORTIA: The quality of mercy is not strain'd,

It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice. .

I like rain too, but not if this is cold day. Are fruits on the photo lemons?

Dear Amrita,
I see you're enjoying 26 Celsius degrees. We haven't had so high temperature levels all summer.
Wish I were there. 26 C is perfect for me.
When Serina and her friends were minors, I used to take them out on the deck and dance in heavy, lukewarm summer rain.
Great fun. One of the great thing about having children, or work with children; one gets to do lots of childish stuff.

I like Portia's monologue.
Much wisdom from Shakespeare in general and in the Merchant in particular.

Our forecast calls for rain for the next three days, but today, I'm enjoying the sunshine!

The Merchant of Venice is one of Shakespeare's plays that I haven't yet read. Now you've got me curious!

And as for the dog! Well, I should train Bentley to say grace! Perhaps it would help him get holy!!

Hi Amrita!
The rains in your pictures sure look refreshing...

the limes too!

And that famous play by Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice - it does take me back to my high school days in the early 70s. I love that speech my Portia on Mercy... wow, I can still say it from memory, but now as I read the words from your blog, it seems even more beautiful - seeing the words all at a glance... mercy as the gentle rain from heaven, above the sceptred sway...enthroned in the hearts of kings...an attribute to God himself...

And earthly power doth then show likest Gods when mercy seasons justice!

How beautiful these eternal words, and how true.

In wrath, God remembers mercy... or we would all have long perished.

Indeed the gentle rain is a picture of mercy.

What timely reminders your post it, even the one I read just below this one, on using our time, our opportunities to serve the purposes of our God.

Thank you indeed, dear Amrita, for sharing all that you do on your blog.

Love
Lidj

Dear Amrita,
How delightful to read your post. Simple things like the rain can refresh our body and soul. Thanks for sharing about the Merchant of Venice. I saw the movie once, and I loved it. It might be more interesting to read the book now that I read Portia's speech.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and love.
