Sunday Blessings - That 's My King

Today we celebrate Palm Sunday, the royal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem the city of His crucifixion. Although Jesus used a humble donkey as a mode of transport , His entry is called the triumphal entry because the crowds hailed Him as a King thinking He would give them freedom from their political oppressors. Little did they know that Jesus had come to give them spiritual deliverance not political emancipation. Not realizing their predicament the very same crowd who bestowed on Him "Hosannas in the Highest " screamed for His cruel execution on the cross.
Listen to this message by the late preacher Dr S M Lockridge, a powerful messenger of God. I have a very old worn out recorded (copied) tape of his which I got in the early 80s as a young Christian. Glory fills my soul whenever I listen to it.

    My Dad was Mr Palm Sunday when he was well :-). It was a very important day to him, and he'd bring blessed Palm to all those he knew from his parish who could not get out. You've brought back lovely memories of my Dad for me, thank you. ~Mary

    Hello David, I had a very good day today. In the evening I went to see Simran andher family and recorded her singing a Sunday school song. I will post that later on.

    Palm Sunday is celebrated with great enthusiasm in our churches in India. The churches are decorated with gree palm branches
    and children sing special song etc. In some churches they distribute dates for people to eat - after service that is.

    Hi Amrita. I seem to remember something about Palm Sunday from my long-ago youth...we had real palms growing all over, I do remember that...I think they were shorn of all their lower fronds before it was over...

    We are still in a windstorm here, hope the weatehr is nicer there!

    Hello Dame Penni, Yes we decorated our church with palm branches this ,orning. In other churhes children process into the sanctuary carrying palm branches.

    I see you have had the good start of the silent week.
    my brother used to play Jesus Christ Superstar as a prelude to the Easter week.
    Lots of stuff to call for reflection and set the spirit in the right mood, even though I do not quite equal with its theology.
    William Lloyd Webber, the father of Andrew and Julian, has composed a beautiful Easter Oratorio.
    Gunnar and I attended this just a week ago, in our church.

    Thanks for sharing the videos, they were powerful. We also commemorated Palm Sunday at our church yesterday. We couldn't help but be moved by the events leading to the death of Savior.

    it is something the way that people can change their minds, eh amrita.
    one mind that was changed during the crucufuction was the mind and heart of one of the thiefs, and he was gloriusly saved.
