Romance from the past

This is a video from a Hindi movie called Jodha Akbar

Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, (Muslim) and a Rajput (Hindu) princess, Jodhaa.

The song sequence takes one into the charming world of a Mughal Palace

  2. People say love is a 20th century phenomenon.
I say love always was, always will be.

  4. Hey Amrita,
I remember going to see Indian movies when I was a kid...usually with my uncles...enjoyed the singing...in college here once, there was this Pakistani guy who had a crush on me (nuts!) and he would follow me and sing these Indian songs...it was so annoying!..not the songs...him!
    Ah well!

  12. Hello Amrta :)

    Greetings !

This is an excellent post of love and intermarriage. The words in the song touches the heart.

It is appropriate that you are posting this post of great love on the eve of valentines day. Several moral policing outfits like Ram sena, Bajrang dal are creating so much problems for young people in love. I hope better sense will prevail upon them.

I wonder whether Jodha Akbar had children. If so what religion they would have followed. Is it possible for a Hindu woman to adapt to Muslim religion or love will conquer all religious problems?

I am thrilled to know you and I hope we will continue to interact.

    Have a nice day :)
