Mahima 's Special Day

I enjoy watching cookery shows on TV.
Its not just the recipes,
most of them are too complicated &
impractical or use unavailable expensive ingredients.
Its the technique of cooking I like to observe.
Some of our cookery shows are very light hearted and full of comedy.
I enjoy that.
Earlier this week I saw an Italian model make
stuffed aubergines. Actually she stood there looking stunning
while the Indian chef did all the hard work.
I liked the recipe.
So today I made an Indian version
of
Italian style stuffed aubergines.
Turned out quite good.
Mom can' t go to McDonald 's
so I got her chicken burgers.
Today is my niece Mahima 's 17th birthday.

Happy birthday Mahima.
Her name means Glory or God 's Praise.

She is a very talented lass. Excellent at school work.
Likes to paint and cook
and is very tender towards children.
I have 4 nephews and only one niece.

  2. Dear Amrita,
You are a woman of many interests and skills. I like and admire your broad horizon.
I also like the way you make me smile and giggle when I read your blogs.
In Norway we say "a good laugh prolongs the life".
Well, then you have added much to my life.
    Have a good week-end.

  3. Good gracious, Mahima is incredibly beautiful. Good looking ladies run in your family, Amrita!!!

She should follow her aunt into teaching! But she will have to combine sternness with her love of children, or they will get into mischief! How well I know!

I like what you cooked. I can tell I would get quite fat (well, fatter) if my dream of visiting all my bloggie friends all over the world comes true!!!

  5. Happy Birthday to your niece. She is stunningly beautiful, with a name to match.

We too like to watch cooking shows and my husband improvises with some of the recipes & makes them his own. He does most of the cooking and I do the baking.

  6. Lovely young woman .. your niece! Happy Birthday Mahima!!

Cooking shows are a good way to develop cooking skills. Improvising and adapting recipes is quite a good skill to acquire.

I went to our local health food store today and inquired about holy basil tea .. and bought a box of tea bags ... holy basil and organic black tea leaves mixed together ... quite good .. called Indian breakfast tea on the box. Thanks for mentioning it a while back.

  8. Hi Amrita,
Last night I cooked the Ziploc omelets you showed on the 20th. They were delicious! I'd never heard of this before reading about it on your site; thanks for a handy tip.

  13. Happy Birthday to your precious one and only niece! She is very beautiful, her hair is sooo pretty. I've read that the most beautiful and healthy hair in the world is that of women from India. They are in high demand for wigs!
I hate to show my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with an aubergine. Is it similar to an eggplant? I look forward to your enlightenment!

  19. Happy Birthday to Mahima. May she have many more blessed and abundant birthdays to come. She is very beautiful and charming. I'm sure there are many young boys teasing her already at her tender age. You must really be fond of cooking. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

  20. Mahima is stunningly beautiful!!!
Happy Belated Birthday to her and I pray for God's richest blessings on her life!

I have been neglecting my comments - taking a few moments today to "stop and smell the roses" as they say! Or in this case, I'm imagining smelling that delicious looking eggplant! I have made stuffed augergines several times --not as often as my Italian Grandma used to - and not as often as my Italian Mom does! Brillo Man is not a huge fan of eggplant (?!) so it's not something I make often --but when I do...I enjoy them! Reading your post has made me hungry...now I must go in search of some food!

Thanks for your prayers for Randy -his surgery is Wednesday. Watch the Sister's blog for updates!

I'm praying that God blesses you tremendously today!
    Love you!

Oh, yummy! The aubergine dish looks wonderful!

Your niece is a lovely young woman and it is obvious how proud you are of her. She is a tribute to her name's meaning and her beauty demonstrates a good heart.

God bless you today and always!

  22. Oh how beautiful your niece is! She looks very sweet, too. Doc watches cooking shows all day. Which is kind of absurd, but he enjoys them. Saturday I bought an Indian lunch at the Farmer's Market. I always think of you when I see that vendor. Her name is Nena and sometimes she has younger Indian women working for her. My Doctor (Sagegh) is also Indian and I see women with saris on, etc, in his office all the time. He is very nice looking and uses the computer so well, and he is very kind. I have had quite a few Indian doctors as they often work for the clinics and so on. I always like them. They are gentle people who seem like healers.
