रेड तुएस्दय Give me the Real Red

Summer is knockingat our door

but it seems

our garden is keeping

it at bay .

Soon the vivid colours of winter

will wither into summer drabness.

And it will time for us to wait for

the rains to arrive.

One of my favourite Bible teacher is Charles R Swindoll.

I have several of his excellent Bible study guides

which I received as free radio offers

as a young believer.

The following passage has been taken from his study guide called-

A Ministry Anyone Could Trust (based on 2 Cor)

"Like supermarket cereal Christianity (sometimes -parenthesis mine) is brightly packaged

and sugarcoated and enticingly offers free prizes on the inside,

we fail to see the fine print on the side of the box. And so we never

know about the empty calories we have eaten...or realize how malnourished we have become "

So Beloved, as Colossians 2:16 says"Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you with all

wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and

hymns and spiritual songs singing with thankfulness

in your hearts to God."

Red Tuesday - Lal Girja

The Central Methodist Church is located just down our street.

It is known a Lal -Red Girja - Church .

My family were originally Methodists.

My great grandfather and grandfather were

both Methodist Pastors.

We used to attend this church as children

But later on my family left because of church politics

and lack of spiritual food.

I clicked these photos from a

moving rickshaw.

My church is known as Safed Girja or White Church

because of its white exterior.
I wore this last week .
This is a woolen dress.
Last week was cold so I could wear it.
Since the past 2 days its become pretty warm.

recommended by my friend Monsoon Dreams
who is an excellent photographer.
I lost my Internet Connection for an entire day but got it restored by evening. Started tutoring Simran again from today.
She will be having her annual exams from March 2nd.
She 's only in Grade 2 but has a lot of work
to do. The Indian school system is hard on kids.

PRAYER REQUEST
Last week the church got a hefty electricity bill.
We don 't have the means to pay it yet.
Please pray for God 's provision.
He is the same yesterday today and forever.
We have left it in His hands.

Red Tuesday - Fun with Red

In Novenber 2008 ,Ruan a very close Sri Lankan Christian brother/friend

of Prem and Anju 's went to be with the Lord after fighting

a brave battle with cancer.

He left behind his young wife, Kumari and 3 small children.

The Premkumars took the kids out for a fun night

to the Crystal Palace in Moncton. Mahima with the youngest.

Red Tuesday - Mother...Nature

Splashes of red in home and garden

This sleeveless waistcoat was made by my

Mother. She wove the individual squares on a small

wooden frame and stitched them together,

She has a larger frame also.

Presbyterian missionary friends

brought these weaving gadgets from 'home '

and shared these crafts with girls here.

I baked this cornmeal bread.

There is nothing like your own freshly baked bread.

In the background is a hand woven tea cosy

from North East India.

It was a gift by my sister

Vegetable salad we had on Sunday .

This rose was really huge.

Red Tuesday -Red Hot Chili Peppers

My Tuesday photos are a day late

as I was watching the inauguration of the

American President.

I bought these red hot chili peppers

to make pickle.

Washed and sun dried them.

Then I stuffed them with 7 different spices

mixed with salt.

I bottled them pouring some mustard oil,

vinegar and lemon juice over them.

I put the bottle out in the sun.

The pickle should be ready

in about a week.

This is a salad I made with our garden produce.

Grated beets,carrots daikon.

and salad leaves.

These are my beet root plants.

My mother was a very skillful knitter

in her her day.
She made this red sweater
for my elder sister
about 25 years ago.
I have preserved all her handmade creations
very carefully.
Most ladies of my family
are very good knitters.
Now many of them have given up knitting due to
advancing age and poor eyesight.

My aunt, whose son got married yesterday

is an artist.

On her dining room wall hangs

her re-creation of The Last Supper.

She has given it a stained glass look.

I am feeling better today, but I 'm still quite weak.

Sonia and family left this morning.

Praying they may reach home safely as driving in the fogcan be risky.

I got a call from Sonia saying they got home safely.

Red Tuesday

Yesterday my adopted sister Sonia arrived with her

son Abner

and husband.

So there is a lot of activity in the house.

Mama has perked up quite a lot.

She sat outside in the garden

after a long time ,instead of just sitting on the veranda.

At one time there were 9 people living in

our house when everyone was

alive or un-married.

We lived as a joint family.

When visitors came it was like a

mini-camp.But there

was room for everybody.

Even strangers recommended by friends or relatives

were accommodated and lots

of mission workers.

Red Tuesday - Lo How a Rose Er ' Blooming

Ladies dressed in red saris. Red seems to be the color of the season.

A velvety red rose from our garden.

Today on Internet Radio I heard another favorite Christmas carol of mine.This one called Lo How A Rose Er ' Blooming is from Germany.

We used to sing it in the Allahabad Choral Society.

The late Mrs Erica Harper (Presbyterian missionary) was the conductor.My sisters and I were the youngest members of the choir.

The wife of my Dad 's cousin Dr S (who is the head of the pathology dept. of the Medical College) sang the solo.

I remember these were the favourite flowers
of a character in the soap opera Santa Barbara which urban India
watched years ago as if its life depended on it.

I was invited to the christening and birthday dinner of Sarah who turned one year today.I took my camera along hoping to get some red color for today 's theme. Sarah

Cakes like these are usually ordered from a confectionary.

They are only meant for special celebrations that 's why they are so big

Clowns - I did not like the masks.

The clowns belong to a Halloween Party

or Ghoul Club.

Maybe the kids are so used to watching ugly cartoons on the various

cartoon channels they were not scared of them.

Many cartoon characters are frightful and hideous.

I often advise parents to monitor their kids cartoon watching.

One mother told me that when her daughter started displaying the distasteful actions of a particular cartoon character and she banned that show.
