Sonia, her husband and son Abner arrived on Saturday. The house seems full and lively. Avinash left this morning - his leave ends today. Sonia and Abner will stay till the second week of June.
Abner is attending Vacation Bible School every morning from 7 to 10 .30 am.
Its a time for Sonia and me to get away from our daily mundane activities. There is a lot of therapeutic sharing among us women too.
Daytime temperatures are over 110* F with high humidity. Can' t escape that. The monsoon rains will arrive by mid June if all goes well.
I lost my Internet this weekend and it was restored yesterday.
Thank you for praying for me. This Sunday we had a glorious service with guest speaker Sunil Joy. We had a new family visit and lots of lively children in the audience. I enjoy the presence of children in church services. They are our future.
I want to share some photos of the Horticultural Show we all went to in the last week of February when nephew Ashish and friend Megan were with us.
They bring back cool memories in this heat. The temperatures were in the 70s then.
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”[c]
20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

12 Fertilize my soul:
Beautiful post, as always Amrita. Oh, and how very nice to see you. You look lovely!
Hope you are having a lovely time with your family. I'm in awe that you can do anything with temps of 110F and high humidity. Thanks for the beautiful pics and your loving thoughts.
In my opinion, there is nothing better than a houseful of guests to stir us up and bring happiness.
Hi Ash, Kathryn an d Kate,
Thank you for stopping by and commenting.
Yes we are having a nice family time, One can get by in this stifling heat when you have company.
hi amrita. i am able to access blogger and FB through a proxy. hope all is well with you. thank you for your prayers. God bless you, amrita. (((HUGS)))
You always have great photos and great Bible quotations in your posts. God bless you more for that. Indeed the world is blinded to the truth of Jesus Christ, for they follow the lord of this world- Satan. But the truth will always be there for those who follow the Lord and the truth has already set us free from the chains of sin and death. Thanks for the inspired post. God bless you always.
Do think we should all specially pray for Stephen Hawking?
Great post....your scripture choice is really appropriate..I pray for Stephen Hawking...for someone who is so intelligent and yet misses the mark...sadness..he will have much to answer for as he has led many simple minded people astray....may God grant him repentance....
Your weather must be difficult to handle this time of the year... that's HOT!!!!!!
Hello Amrita,
I read this post with great interest and enjoyed looking at the lovely photos.
I was disturbed to read about Stephen Hawking's statement. He reminds me of Dr.Faustus written by Christopher Marlowe in 1604. Dr.Faustus is a highly accomplished man with immense wisdom in fields of human knowledge. But he is not satisfied. He wants to dominate the world. So he sells his soul to the devil for great power over the world. In the end the devil drags Dr.Faustus to hell. This is a book which all must read especially when controversial statements are made by eminent people like Stephen Hawking. He has sold his soul to the devil and he will pay a heavy penalty.
Best wishes,
Joseph
I have today 80 degrees of F (27 C).
Your Bible study is very actual. I know many people, who think that God is superstition and Christianity is ignorance. But this is the sin, which in Bible is called "pride". On the other hand, there are scientists, who convert to Jesus Christ because they studied biology and physics. Few years ago I knew Geoff Bernard, who lives in Israel and is creationist. It was fascinating meeting!
dearest friend Amrita,
