Relaxing Peacefully

This photo was taken about 20 years ago, when we had our German Shepherd- Lassie and Mixed Lab - Jackie.
Lassie was a good dog. Her previous owners (our family friends) were very rich people living in Kuwait. When they visited from there, they fed her dry fruit, which irked us quite a bit as they were too expensive to waste on a dog.Well, every dog has his day.
Jackie was a great guard dog. No one could enter our place without his permission. He used to walk our maid home, so as to protect her on the street. And when my English friend Ruth (birthday picture) visited, he walked her to her hotel every night.
Jackie prevented our place from being burgled. Some one who had mischief on their minds poisoned him.

On Monday we did not have electricity for 5 hours, but it rained , so it was bearable.Sonia and I went shopping in the rain.
Yesterday we did not have electricity for 8 hours.I was sick by the end of it.The heat fries your brain. And when we can 't run our water pump our tank is depleted.
But I comfort myself by saying I am not the only one going through this -millions of my compatriots are reeling under the blow.Suffering means - I am a card carrying member of the human club.Maybe I 've got a gold card membership.
I wanted Sonia to stay longer but her hubby phoned her yesterday saying he is planning a holiday in Ludhiana (the Punjab) and Simla (hill resort), so she will leave a few days earlier.
Sometimes I wish for get a few days off where I don 't want to be responsible for anything - that will be my holiday. Just switch off my body and brain for a while - is that possible above the ground?
But I will hold on to the words from the Bible - Do not be weary in well doing for you will get your reward in due time. And Jesus said;In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.
The second WORD is specially for when there is no electricity and water and the heats killing you.
P.S. Premission granted to use this as a sermon illustration. LOL

Sometimes, when I feel like this, I try to narrow my view a little. There have been times when I have told myself, "Is your life OK at this precise moment? Everybody OK? Everybody safe? One moment to be happy."

Jackie is a good name for a protector Amrita!!

I wish I could do something about the heat for you. I don't like to think of your brain being fried! Perhaps you should swap with me - we have had a really cold spell here for the last few days and have had to put the heating back on!

Girl you crack me up totally. In the midst of total frustration, you manage humorous twists. Btw--I think you probably have a platinum card membership!
My in-laws were just visiting. They have a picture in front of Woodstock school from over 40 years ago. One of their ancestors had built (owned?) something called Tara House. Is that familiar to you?
Anyway, keep on keeping on...
Love, Sita

Hello amrita!
I am wondering how I will do in the heat in romania-Ana tells me it will be very hot, and they have superstition about breeze blowing, so they dont open windows or like moving air. ana says to expect to be sweating alot. May the Lord give you strength to bear up under the heat!!

Dear Amrita,
I totally feel for the new expression "Every dog has its day".
Guess I'll steel that for a suitable occasion.
I have not stopped praying for holiday of some ind for you. I think you deserve it and also need it to manage your hard everyday life better.
I have not given up hope. Nor should you, dear Amrita.

Amrita, I don't know where the package is that I sent you. It was mailed well over a month ago. Perhaps it will turn up in your mail box soon. I hope so.

Amrita, that is a great couple of lines! I may have to quote you on that. :-)

If I had a million dollars, one of the first things I would do would be to send you on an all-expense-paid trip to the destination of your choice! And, since I would be rich, I suppose I would join you! ;-) But I don't, so perhaps the thought will make you smile, anyway.

Amrita, Have you ever heard of an old Indian movie called "Ek Saal"? My MIL's dad acted in that movie and I would love to get it as a surprise for her, but Have not been able to so far. Any suggestions as to where I might find old Indian movies? Thx..later,
Love, Sita

I sometimes feel like I would just love to walk away from it all and have a "real" break too but then I know in order to do that it would mean that Hubs would be dead and I can't bear that so I trudge on my weary way.

Unfortunately, we can't have our cake and eat it too. :-)

Hi Amrita,
Thank you for visiting me. And oh yes, I too have this ad jumping out on bharateducation.com or something like that....do you too? In any case, my visits to you are like my visit to God's garden. I used to have a real friend like you sometime back. She lived in Poona looking after her mother for twelve long years. Her mother was unable to walk without help after a stroke. June was Jesus to me. I used to visit her often and we would sit to pray, read from the Bible and even do something called "fruit of silence" where a few of us would gather and spend the whole day in prayer, meditation, sharing and writing....It was so good really.

After a few years June's mother was finally taken to her Home and June left for Goa where she lives.

She had started a Magazine, (if I can call it that) called Mustard Seed and oh my! How it grew in numbers, just by readers contributions and donations. June was such a positive influence on me - the journey of faith can begin anywhere and take you anywhere.

I am loving it!:)))

Bless your heart ((((hug))) Sorry about the outages. Heaven will have the perfect temperature & the Light will never go out, huh?

Jackie sounded like a sweetie. I had a lab with similar traits. I miss her so. She too scared away an intruder when I was home by myself with my babies. They really are man's best friend.

It must be very uncomfortable to have to deal with no electricity or water in the heat. It just doesn't get that hot here. Usually the summer is around 75*F and may get up to 85*F. It once got to 90*F but that was 5 years ago. India sounds quite extreme when compared to my climate.
