Choices

Sometimes God prepares us for what is coming later on in the day by a godly word. I received the following devotional in my email which calmed my spirit and made me put on the whole armour of God (Eph 6) when my mother and I came under heavy spiritual attack tonight. The Lord helped us to hold up the shield of faith to deflect the flaming arrows of the enemy. When the enemy comes like a Tsunami wave my anchor holds fast.
Thank you to THE SOLID ROCK.

I choose love . . .No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness. I choose love. Today I will love God and what God loves.

I choose joy . . .I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will refuse the temptation to be cynical . . . the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God. I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.

I choose peace . . .I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live.

I choose patience . . .I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I’ll invite him to do so. Rather than complain that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of clinching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.

I choose kindness . . .I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me.

I choose goodness . . .I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one. I will be overlooked before I will boast. I will confess before I will accuse. I choose goodness.

I choose faithfulness . . .Today I will keep my promises. My debtors will not regret their trust. My associates will not question my word. My wife will not question my love. And my children will never fear that their father will not come home.

I choose gentleness . . .Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.

I choose self-control . . .I am a spiritual being. After this body is dead, my spirit will soar. I refuse to let what will rot, rule the eternal.
I choose self-control.
I will be drunk only by joy. I will be impassioned only by my faith. I will be influenced only by God. I will be taught only by Christ. I choose self control.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. To these I commit my day. If I succeed, I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek his grace. And then, when this day is done, I will place my head on my pillow and rest.

Aunt Virginia was moved out of Intensive care today and hopefully she will be discharged from hospital day after tomorrow.

But please keep on praying, she is being very difficult and creating problems for everyone involved in looking after her including us.

Please pray for my mother and me as we face spiritual attacks.

Dear Amrita,
I will be praying for you and your mother, like i know you are praying for me and my family.
Spiritual attacks are so hard to bear, cause God seems so far away. What we need to remember that every second of the day he is close as the shadow by our right hand.
I need to remind myself about it.
And when the evil thoughts begin crawling in, I have to ask the Lord to remove them.
I love the sentence,"
I choose peace . . .I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live."
Wonderful.
Crown of Beauty had an article about Ebenezer. So far God has been helping."
I try to live in that and share that.

All the Glory for the Lord of lords :)
God is the love - so if we choose God, we choose love. He is the peace - and we choose the peace.
Sometimes we can feel upset because attacks of Satan - but we must remember, that Jesus won on the Cross. We are children of Him - could be anything better?

Amrita, who are these horrid people who are attacking you and your mom's choice of faith? I hope they are not neighbors and that you will be able to avoid them in the future. They sound very nasty indeed.

May God continue to uphold you with his righteous hand & give you strength thru all of this. I'm sure he smiles on your choices to seek him in times of difficultly.

Ole' Max sure has a way with words. That was a nice piece....a bit to convicting though :)
Stand firm...for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (or something like that)

Dear Hollyt lets say these are people who are blinded by the evil one and knowingly or unknowing want to disburb the peace of others.

Dear friends thank you for your prayers., need more of them. Matt 5;11, blessede are you when people insult you....

They accused my mom and insulted her - her 79th birthday is tomorrow - that was hard to take.

I have to confront some people today. Please pray.

Happy birthday for Your mum :)
Today I read the first chapter of Letter to Romans - there are words about people who rejected God: they are conceited, they don't respect their parents and hate God. But they don't have anything to defence - the work of God can be known by mind.
God bless You and Your family.

Oh dear Amrita, my heart breaks for you and your Mother. I'm praying for your spiritual trials. A very bright spiritual man told me once that always know that when you are troubled, God is near. Love, Sally

Hello Amrita:)

This is an amazing post with wonderful words of wisdom. It is to be read many times and deeply embedded in our hearts at all times.

As you will recall even Jesus was tempted by the devil. We are an easy prey to the evil design of the satan. But you have a strong faith and surely you and your mother will overcome all temptations and trials. I am praying for you, your mother and your aunty Virginia.

Best wishes and prayers:)
Joseph
